Here's something new.
Australasian no-frills carrier Pacific Blue will start flying to two brand-new destinations before the end of 2008.
Budget flights to Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea from six cities in Australia - Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney - will commence on November 5th.
Subsequently, more low cost flights to Honiara on the Solomon Islands from the same six Australian cities, as well as from Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington in New Zealand will kick off on December 2nd. |

First low cost airline to fly to PNG and Soloman Islands.
Virgin's prices aren't great though. Cheapest PNG flight is A$249 incl. from Brisbane in a fare sale which ends tomorrow. That's not too bad, but Adelaide, Melbourne, and Sydney are all well over A$600 one way. Cheapest one way to Honiara is A$379 from Brisbane. Fares from most other cities are A$529.
Unfortunately there aren't many other options in the South Pacific, so it's probably best to keep an eye out for Virgin's fare sales before booking with them. |
