Hong Kong based long haul low fare airline Oasis has given tentative confirmation that it will commence operating routes to eight new long-haul destinations in 2008-2009.
Four of the new destinations will be in Europe:
Hong Kong to Milan in Italy
Hong Kong to Berlin in Germany
Hong Kong to Cologne Bonn in Germany
Hong Kong to Manchester in the United Kingdom
Two of the new destinations will be in North America:
Hong Kong to San Francisco in the USA
Hong Kong to Chicago in the USA
Two of the new destinations will be in Australasia:
Hong Kong to Sydney in Australia
Hong Kong to Melbourne in Australia |

So the answer to the question:
| Quote: | | For Oasis Hong Kong, will they be interested to fly into Australia, with a Singapore stopover? |
is yes to the first part and no to the second.
Australia seemed like a logical destination for Oasis given that Viva Macau Australia has already demonstrated the popularity of low cost flights from Macau to Sydney.
If Oasis can match or even improve upon Viva Macau Australia's fares, then of course Europeans and North Americans flying to Hong Kong as a stopover on their way to Australia, will opt to fly onwards with Oasis rather than taking the Turbojet across the water to catch a low fare flight from Macau.
If Oasis can get its routes to Sydney and Melbourne operational soon enough, I can see a battle of the long-haul low cost titans as Oasis and Air Asia X go head to head on the Kangaroo Route (ie. UK to Australia).
In fact, if Oasis moves really quickly, it has a good chance of stealing Air Asia X's thunder. |

From Oasis' mailing list:
| Quote: | We have taken delivery of our fifth aircraft, a Boeing 747-400. Our ongoing fleet expansion will continue to further strengthen our commitment to making high quality flight services accessible to more people. The aircraft, goes into service in July and will join the fleet in flying on existing routes of daily non-stop between Hong Kong and London Gatwick and 6 times weekly between Hong Kong and Vancouver.
PLUS very soon we will have an announcement to share with you about some really exciting new destinations – to new continents – so stay tuned to oasishongkong.com for all the latest information! |
So we should hear which destination will be their next soon. What puzzled me was their plural use of "new continents". Clearly Australia is one, but seeing as they already fly to Asia, Europe, and North America, that only leaves Africa and South America.
The only destination in these two continents that I can think of which may interest Oasis is South Africa. Have you heard anything about that? |

I think it's possible that it's just a slip.
I would guess that by new continents, Oasis means Australia and the USA. |
