| A new Turkish low-cost airline, Anadolu Jet (http://www.anadolujet.com/aj-EN/index.aspx) has spread its wings in order to serve Asia Minor only. Its hub is in Ankara, the capital, and it flies to 17 destinations in the Asian part of the country (excluding Istanbul). The promotional fare is 29 YTL (14 Euro) but you have to double it with the taxes and fees. |

In the article by Brendan Sobie below, the Turkish Airlines CEO, Temel Kotil, reveals some of his plans for the Turkish budget subsidiary, AnadoluJet:

"In order to cultivate the market from Ankara we needed to lower the ticket price but we don't want to lose money of course. Our rule is to make money from every route. We don't want to subsidise." |

Kotil's comments leave it unclear whether AnadoluJet is intended as a permanent fixture in the Turkish skyscape or simply as a medium-term project to identify cost-cutting opportunities in the parent airline and to expand Ankara as a hub.
