Errmm... we had a major blowout...
If you're wondering why the Low Cost Travel Cafe forum has been offline for the last two weeks, here's why:
The service provider aimoo.com decided unilaterally on 11th November, 2007 to migrate the data from all their hosted forums (and they host thousands) to new servers and kill the old servers.
aimoo.com gave no warning for this unilateral action.
Despite the forum being a service which is paid for by subscription, aimoo.com has apparently reduced the status of all Moderators and Administrators to Normal Users, who can't modify the new forum any more than they can bring back the now-deleted old one - without exaggerating, I think this is possibly the most incompetent data migration I have ever heard of.
The forum data on the new server has been skinned with an arbitrary default theme and the categories and folders have all been jumbled up - have a look here: http://forum1.aimoo.com/travelcafe - it's a total mess.
At no time have I received any communication from aimoo.com during this fiasco, but if you want to see what a storm they have caused, do check out their besieged Help Forum - to see the widespread carnage they have wreaked.
I'm genuinely sorry about the "dead air" for the last two weeks if you have been confused about what's going on - hopefully this has managed to clear things up a little.
Be assured that there will be more news to follow - I am working on a back-up plan and we will have things fully operational and better than before as soon as possible.
If you have any questions about your old account or your username or how we're going to sort things out over the next month or two, please don't hesitate to start a new thread in this folder and I'll be happy to answer your questions. _________________ Alan Lansdowne
