...from Feb 4th. So new it's not even on their routemap
Story here
The Hangzhou-KL fares in late March are around RMB1300 (USD180) inc taxes etc - at the moment bookings only seem to be open this far ahead, perhaps booked further in advance lower fares would be available. |

At first I didn't think this was an especially interesting route, but I've just realised Hangzhou is "just" 180 kms away from Shanghai. I'm wondering if there is an airport link from Hangzhou airport to Shanghai, and if there is, how long it takes, and what the fare is. Looking on a map it seem like quite a major road between the two cities, so hopefully there's a nice modern motorway connecting them.
Currently the only low cost carrier international carrier to fly to Shanghai is Cebu Pacific from Manila, which isn't as convenient as KL for many people. |

There are 20 trains a day from Hangzhou to Shanghai, the trip takes 2-3 hours & costs USD6-10 for a "soft seat".
I'm surprised AirAsia haven't marketed it as Shanghai(Hangzhou) like they did with Solo a while back. Interesting to see how they lable it when they update their map... |

Thanks onebir.
The bus from the airport to the railway station costs RMB 15.

Apparently from the airport to Shanghai takes 2.5 hours driving time along the Shanghai-Hangzhou-Ningbo Expressway. Maybe AirAsia should have a connecting bus service directly from the airport, as there currently doesn't seem to be one running this route. |

Like the one they didn't have running Singapore to Johor airport. It was unregistered, & closed by the Singapore authorities. AirAsia denied any involvement. & who can blame them when the regulatory environment is so hostile you can't even open a bus route...
Hangzhou is also a tourist destination in it's own right, and even has half a Chinese proverb. Even more surprisingly I can remember it "上有天堂,下有苏杭" (shang you tian tang xia you su hang) "Above is heaven, below Su(zhou) and Hang(zhou)". |
