The announcement last month that Air Asia and one Singapore-based budget airline will be permitted to operate two flights a day each between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur was lauded by some as a remarkable step forward.
But in the midst of all the excitement, MAS' new low cost subsidiary Firefly seems to have been somewhat forgotten.
There is some talk that Firefly, which recently secured some slots at Subang airport (KL's old international hub), now wants to be able to operate cheap, no-frills flights to Singapore too.
I suppose if the agreement was extended to allow this, then two Singapore-based low cost airlines would have to be allowed to fly between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.
Interesting times ahead? _________________ Alan Lansdowne
