Origin is Berlin, destination is south Thailand but am willing go from anywhere in Europe and arrive anywhere along the Thailand-Malaysia-Singapore axis if that would keep the price down. Don't mind stop-overs (would actually prefer to go this way). Not in any hurry. Saw the Air-Asia promo for London-KL. Not too keen on 13 hours inside a plane. Anything to beat that?

Very unlikely to get a "better" deal ...
If you choose to fly on other LCC´s (albeit with several stops then) to Asia it´ll be significantly more expensive !
If going from Berlin - why not check out Air Berlin ???
They fly non-stop TXL-BKK (that´s at least a bit shorter than STN-KUL...) |

| thanks. air berlin direct to BKK does seem like a better option. their promo fare on certain dates comes to the same as air asia - after adding berlin-london and all the extras that air asia charges you for (which air berlin doesn't) - and it is a much shorter flight, "only" 10 hours... |

The added benefit of the Air Berlin flight is that you can´t miss it like the one from London since you´ll have to fly on a separate ticket with a different airline to London to be able to get the Air Asia flight.
And if you want to go to Bangkok you´ll have to get another flight from Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok.
One needs to add all expenses and compare afterwards ...
The TXL-STN-KUL-BKK version means also that you need a lot more total travel time until you reach destination. It´s not just the flight from Europe to Asia but also the "feeder" flight and the "buffer time" between all flights that you need to add ...
So, if you compare ticket prices the version via STN+KUL consists of 3 Tickets.
I´m hardly to believe there´s a big saving compared to Air Berlin !
