hello people, i'm not in europe at the moment so would like some advice.
what would be my cheapest options of moving from Amsterdam to Berlin? i don't mind which mode of transport that should be - plane, train, bus, ride-share etc. - or how long it should take, i'm in no rush, just looking for the cheapest way of doing it. any suggestions? |

Looking at travelling in September...
By Coach
You can get an overnight one-way fare from Amsterdam to Berlin on BerlinLinienBus for EUR 58 (or EUR 47 if you're under 27, over 60, or a student).
It looks like rival intercity coach company Gullivers is charging the same fare. (On some evenings it may even be the same service).
The night-long coach journey between the two capitals takes just under ten hours.
By Train
I can't seem to find any night trains which seems a bit odd (maybe someone else will have more luck) but you can definitely find an early morning train between the Dutch and German capitals (departing Amsterdam at 06:57) with seats available for as little as EUR 39 if you book early enough.
The journey takes just under six and a half hours and you'll have to change trains once. See Deutsche Bahn for more details.
By Plane
You can, of course, fly low cost...
The Dutch budget airline Transavia flies daily from Amsterdam Schiphol direct to Berlin Tegel for a one-way fare of EUR 90 including taxes. _________________ Alan Lansdowne

That pretty much covers your options.
I'd recommend taking the early morning train.
Not only is it the cheapest option, it's also greener and a lot more convenient (city-centre to city-centre - and no airports or security queues). _________________ Alan Lansdowne

Good find!
I was originally going to look at eurolines.nl as well, but I figured it was probably going to yield much the same results as BerlinLinienBus and Gullivers so I didn't bother in the end.
I wasn't counting on the fact that eurolines.nl might be offering special Promo Tickets.
That will teach me to leave stones unturned. I'll remember that next time.
Well done on finding the absolute cheapest connection from Amsterdam to Berlin! _________________ Alan Lansdowne
