My guess is probably not. Headline fares usually don't include taxes and charges unless they have to.
But I think we should point out that this fare is Australian dollars.
So when they say $1000, that's:
AUD 1000 = GBP 457 = EUR 584 = USD 923

We've been saying for some time on this forum that if it is successful, Air Asia X will be in a position to revolutionise the Kangaroo Route (from the UK to Australia).
If Oasis now speeds up its act and introduces low cost flights from Hong Kong to Sydney and the two long-haul budget airlines go head-to-head in a price war we could see a mass defection of travellers who currently have no option but to fly economy class between the UK and Australia on British Airways, QANTAS, Singapore Airlines, Emirates, Air New Zealand or Cathay Pacific.
Given the way that the global economy is currently heading, I suspect more and more people are likely to consider flying with a brand they are less familar with, if it means they can save a couple of hundred pounds, euros or dollars.

Unfortunately Air Asia may have spoken too soon about availability of A340s - see this.
"However, he [AAX CEO Osman Rani] said that plans to launch flights to Britain in the fourth quarter of 2008 were now "subject to aircraft availability."
"We are out in the market to look for an extra long-range aircraft such as the A340 to enable us to provide a direct service to the UK if we can secure that aircraft," he said."
Still, sounds like it won't be too long.
And if Oasis fly that route I think they'll pick up market share pretty quickly - the majority of the commentary on them seems to be positive (including mine*) & there are probably more price sensitive flyers on that route than many others.
*My only gripe being that they insist on evidence of onward travel if you fly one way to HK - but fortunately this can be obtained pretty cheaply (a GBP15 KCR ticket to China seems to do the trick) |

Has Oasis been reformed, or were you not aware that Oasis went bust? |

Oasis went into liquidation on the morning of Wednesday, 9th April.
On Friday, 28th March, I don't think any of us were expecting the airline to collapse.
