They're just waiting for the right planes. Sounds like they've seen significant numbers of Brits using them for leg 2 of the Kangaroo route, & decided muscling in on leg 1 ASAP will be worth their while.

Separately, I read a while back that Thai AA's expansion plans are being reined in - because of high oil prices they're prioritising replacing old fleet. With fixed numbers of new fleet coming online over the next year or so, that means significantly less planes for allocation to new routes. |
